Carepath

Starting retroactively from July 1st, 2024, United Steelworkers employees have access to a new health benefit offering three key programs aimed at supporting the well-being of employees and their families.

Elder Care Program

Carepath’s Elder Care Program provides members and their families with a Nurse Case Manager to help them understand and navigate the healthcare system, so they are empowered to make the necessary arrangements for care. The only service of its kind in Canada, Elder Care provides unlimited assistance from a specialized Nurse Case Manager to address the evolving elder care needs of membersCarepath’s Elder Care Program provides members and their families with a Nurse Case Manager to help them understand and navigate the healthcare system, so they are empowered to make the necessary arrangements for care.

Chronic Disease Management Program

Carepath’s Chronic Disease Program provides support from diagnosis through treatment and recovery to members and their families managing all types and stages of chronic disease. From diabetes to chronic pain, autoimmune diseases and cancer, Nurse Case Managers provide personalized support and expert navigation of the healthcare system to improve the overall quality of care, recovery, and outcomes.

Mental Health Program

Carepath’s Mental Health Program promotes prevention and early intervention for people experiencing mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, couples therapy, PTSD, addiction, and parent-child issues. It also provides timely access to confidential support and return-to-work planning for members on sick leave, short-term and long-term disability.

Dental Benefits:

For full-time members using Steelworkers Dental Centres: annual coverage has increased to $1,500 per family member.

For part-time members using Steelworkers Dental Centres: coverage is now $800 for member-only coverage.

For members not using Steelworkers Dental Centres: the annual family dental benefit maximum is now $2,500 for full-time members and $800 for part-time members.
